State Representative Scott Inman Announces Candidacy for Governor of Oklahoma
Releases Video Announcing His Commitment to Rebuild Oklahoma by Fighting for Every Oklahoman and Restoring Oklahoma's Promise to Our Future Generations
Oklahoma City – Asking voters across Oklahoma to join him in rebuilding Oklahoma, State Representative Scott Inman (D-Del City) announced today in a short video that he will be running for Governor of the State of Oklahoma in the 2018 elections to replace term-limited Gov. Mary Fallin.
With the state facing continued budget crises, aging infrastructure, 4-day school weeks and the loss of teachers, and severe shortages in essential services, Inman – the House Democratic Leader – has heard from people across the state who are desperate for new, real leadership to head our state government.
“I have a record of fighting for every Oklahoman and a plan to restore Oklahoma’s promise for future generations, “ said Inman.
“’I’m just someone who believes in doing the right thing, even if it’s not always popular. It’s time our leaders do right by Oklahoma because we can’t continue down this same path. It’s time we begin the process of rebuilding our schools, our roads, our healthcare, our state…so that Oklahoma will be prosperous for all our citizens.”
Inman is serving his final term in the state legislature and has served as the House Democratic Leader since 2009. Inman is a native of Del City and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and the OU School of Law. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Dessa, and the couple has two daughters, Ella Grace and Sophia Claire. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to the community and for his legislative work, including induction into the Del City High School Alumni Hall of Fame, the OBA Friends of Justice Award, the George Nigh Award for Young Democratic Leadership, OPEA’s Legislator of the Year, and the Representative Opio Toure Statesman Award. Representative Inman has also been named a Rising Political Star on NBC News by Chuck Todd, host of Meet the Press.

SCOTT INMAN: Hi, I'm Scott Inman. My wife, Dessa and I, along with our girls Ella & Sophia are proud to call Oklahoma home. It's been an honor representing my hometown at state Capitol trying to do my best to make Oklahoma a better place to live and raise a family. I was born and raised here. In fact, our family's roots date back more than 100 years.
As Oklahomans we have a lot to be thankful for.
Our abundant natural resources, our revitalized urban centers, our strong agricultural heritage, and most important - our people.
DESSA INMAN: But there's no getting around it. Over the last few years our state's leaders have let down our families and our neighbors. To put it bluntly, they've failed us. Something has to change.
SCOTT INMAN: And that's why today, I’m announcing that I am running for Governor. I have a record of fighting for every Oklahoman and a plan to restore Oklahoma's promise for future generations.
Look, I'm not a rich man. I don't have a famous name. and I certainly haven’t been a rubber stamp for Mary Fallin. I'm just someone who believes in doing the right thing, even if it's not always popular.
It's time our leaders do right by Oklahoma, because we can't afford to continue down this same path. It's time that we begin the process of rebuilding our schools, our roads, our healthcare, our state so that Oklahoma will be prosperous for all of our citizens.
I'm Scott Inman and I humbly ask for your support to be your next governor. Please join me. Let's rebuild Oklahoma!
